Rating 93 "Wine Spectator" - $125
Really well-made, with Indian spice, incense, berry and raspberry character. Full-bodied, with fine, silky tannins and a finish that goes on for a very long time indeed. Frescobaldi knows how to make Brunello.

Thick and rich, with loads of ripe, jammy fruit and vanilla and cream character. Full-bodied, chewy and long. New World meets Tuscany. Big and rich wine. Cabernet in purity.
Rating 91 "Wine Spectator" - $120
Solid, with blackberry, plum and cedar character on the nose and palate. Full-bodied, with chewy tannins and a long finish. This is what you expect from an outstanding Brunello.
Rating 92 "Wine Spectator" - $150
Lots of rich, creamy oak and a tasty core of ripe currant, plum and black cherry fruit combine to form this notably complex and concentrated young wine. Delicious from start to finish, with a long, fruity aftertaste and fine-grained tannins.
Rating 93 "Wine Spectator" - $120
A silky, medium-weight wine that bears more than a slight resemblance to Right-Bank Bordeaux. Dried herbs, chocolate and plum aromas and flavors finish long. Half Merlot, the rest evenly divided between Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.
Rating 88 "Wine Spectator" - $120
Very Burgundian in its character and style. Firm and well-structured, with a tight band of spice, wild berry and raspberry fruit supported by lively acidity and herb-tinged tannins. A hint of mineral and limestone shows through on the finish.
Rating 90 "Wine Spectator" - $90
Dense and distinctive for its anise and herb-scented cassis and dried tomato flavors that linger effectively on the round finish
Rating 89 "Wine Spectator" - $100
An intense and compact red, dried date and fig spruced up with a layer of spicy cedar. Full-bodied, with a base of intense fruit, minerals and oak, with very fine tannins that firm up the long, spicy finish. Very promising indeed. Wait for this one.

Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio 2008 ItalyThis best selling Pinot Grigio is the envy of other Grigio producers and often takes a beating back in Italy. Truth is, the wine lives up to expectations: It is informal, easy-to-drink, food-friendly and uncomplicated. Typical of the variety, with contrasting green notes and sweet honey.

The 2003 Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is an elegant, highly expressive wine that displays great complexity due to the multifaceted climatic conditions of the harvest season. The wine is dark ruby with a purple to red edge. It has bright aromas of black cherry, dark chocolate, black tea, allspice and ginger. In the mouth, it offers a full-bodied attack, a round, balanced mid-palate redolent of cherry preserves, brown sugar and caramel and an extremely long finish of savory ripe fruit.

A worthy follow-up to the 2001, it’s not as voluptuous, but is better structured and is likely more age worthy. The wine is tannic, but balanced and rich in Cabernet fruit. It has that edge of elegant complexity that marks a great wine.

La Posta Malbec 2008Argentina

Firm, tight and spicy, with a beam of cedar-laced wild berry, blackberry and wild berry fruit that gains depth and dimension, ending with a nice pebble and mineral edge.
Rating 90 "Wine Spectator" - $70
Ripe and round, this is generous with its smoky cherry and black currant flavors, persisting against mildly grippy tannins to create a long, layered finish
Rating 91 "Wine Spectator" - Glass $9 / Bottle $34
This Pinot from Rodney Strong is lithe and lively! Strong was a pioneer, one of the first to plant Pinot Noir in the Russian River Valley back in 1968. Now his estate vineyards produce superb Pinot every year. This estate 2009 is a prime example of the quality you can achieve when you control your own vineyards. Wine Enthusiast scored this wine 91 point saying 'Made in a leaner, drier, lighter style than most Russian River Pinots, but the elegance and complexity are very attractive. Shows a white pepper and herbal note to the sour cherry candy fruit, and is balanced with perfect acidity. A beautiful wine to accompany, not overwhelm, fine foods
